Βiomass boilers in accordance with EN 303-5

Τhe European standard EN 303-5 is designated to determine the design, construction, environmental and operational requirements on heating boilers with solid fuel. Among other things, in the category "solid fuel" includes biomass.
The model, originally adopted in 1998 apply where solid fuel boilers (including biomass boilers) with a nominal heat output up to 300 kW (approximately equal to 1.000.000 BTU / h), with a maximum allowable operating pressure up to 6 bar and maximum temperature for water to 100 ° C. Facilities such as fireplaces or pellet stoves are not included in the scope of the standard EN 303-5. It should also be noted that a revised version of EN303-5 is expected, logically, by the end of 2012.
In accordance with EN303-5 two types of construction materials are suitable for the manufacture of heating boilers: steel and cast iron. According to the type of fuel used in the boiler sets a minimum wall thickness of each part of the boiler (ie, the metal sheet). The nominal heat output also affects the thickness of the wall. Additionally, the wall thickness varies from one part of the boiler from the other. Consequently, different thickness required for walls which come into contact with the water in relation to the walls of the feed and the combustion chamber in contact with both water and fire.

The boiler efficiency is defined as the ratio of useful heat given to the water through the boiler to the thermal power. Apparently the reason he always takes values between 0 and 1.
The minimum performance values of a boiler in relation to the class defined by the following equations:For Class 1, the = 47 + 6 · logQ,For Class 2, the = 57 + 6 · logQ,For Class 3, the = 67 + 6 · logQ,
where is the boiler efficiency (in%) and Q is the nominal heat output of the boiler (in kW).
The interpretation of these equations is that the performance of a boiler output of 20 kW must be at least 74.8% in order to be classified in the third class. It is interesting that, in general, the minimum boiler efficiency as defined by the European Standard EN303-5 is higher than that specified in the U.S. by ASME.
In practice, the individual laws and regulations for the performance of biomass boilers are stricter than those specified in accordance with EN 303-5. For example, in Germany only category 3 boilers permitted while in Austria the only acceptable performance range is between 73 and 83% for non-automatic boilers and 76-86% for automatic feeding. Similarly, in Switzerland may only use Class 3 boilers.

DIY - Organic Shampoo with soda

Searching for natural shampoo that we can all make our own, I fell randomly on a page talking about a cleaning technique of hair called "poo free" and a hit abroad. This technique is used around the world for over 200 years! Essentially the first handmade shampoo with the best results as people are saying the method. This method replaces the shampoo with a mixture of soda. Soda excellent cleanser known since ancient times for its miraculous properties, probably came to stay in our cupboards as dominant product! Said to be the secret of shiny hair Cleopatra!

RECIPE

water as much as needed2 tablespoons of soda6 drops essential oil of your choice (lavender helps in hair growth and strengthening of the scalp)

I put in a container the soda and essential oil and stir. I begin to add small amounts of water until the mixture becomes like mud. Leave for 10 minutes, open the jar, close it and ready!

I use it as shampoo! Well douse my hair and add a small amount of the mixture in my hair. About a teaspoon. I gently massage and rinse out. Simple! The quantity reaches for several washes in long hair. The method in principle seemed funny for efficacy, but as the days go by my hair already big difference! Molded much more easily, more smoothly and hairstyles outwear. Besides, if you look at the ingredients on the bottle of shampoo you will see that they consist of soda ((95%), glycerin and fragrances!

Cheap solar panels of "bad" silicon promising new method

A new method that dramatically improves the properties of low-quality silicon and promises significant efficiency gains and a corresponding reduction in the cost of photovoltaic engineers developed by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia. The research team discovered a mechanism for exchange of hydrogen atoms in order to succeed in fixing flaws in the structure of silicon, by far the most expensive material used in the manufacture of solar cells."This method will allow the solar cell manufacturing from cheap low grade silicon with yields higher than those achieved with expensive materials" says Stuart Wenham from the School of Engineering of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy UNSW.Solar panels take advantage of the light energy (photons) emitted by the sun produce electricity through the photovoltaic effect. The majority of cells made from silicon wafers or thin film cells (thin film) of cadmium telluride or silicon. The average efficiency of conventional silicon cells is 19%, while the top product yields traded reach 20.1% lower than those obtained in the laboratory. With the new technique scientists UNSW aspire to achieve efficienciency of 21-23%.Scientists have known for decades that the hydrogen atoms when inserted in the atomic structure of silicon correcting flaws and shortcomings, but until recently had not managed to control the process and to understand in depth the mechanism.UNSW scientists have attempted to control the load condition to hydrogen atoms (positive, negative, neutral) and is forming the hydrogen motion around the silicon and its reactivity, which is the important factor correction of imperfections. As Wenham says "10,000 times improvement over the mobility of hydrogen and were able to check the chemical ties with impurities and defects in silicon so as to hibernate."

Solar Air conditioning.

An air condition that works with solar energyThe cooling of a space with an air conditioner is expensive and that is why this is one of the first functions to meet someone thinks just begun to deal with photovoltaics.portable air conditionBut soon finds out that economically not attractive at all to try to cover the operation of an air conditioner with a standalone photovoltaic system. Let's see why, considering first what stream consumes an air condition:A small air conditioner and even energy class A of 9.000 BTU consumes almost 1.000 Watt per hour of operation (1.000 Wh). So even for just three hours of use, for example during the three warmest hours of the day, consumption reaches 3.000 Wh (watt-hours). So having photovoltaic panels 600 Wp, deep discharge batteries about 600A and inverter with pure sine power of at least 3.000 Watt. Such a system costs about 4,000 euros but ... And this for just 3 hours of air conditioning! The only way for air to photovoltaic (relatively low cost) is the selection of a sufficiently smaller than 9.000 BTU air conditioner, which will thus consumes less power. But, as is natural, it is only suitable for very small spaces such as caravans, boats or cabins some very small rooms of similar size.Such an air conditioner with solar is here. I tried in practice one here will just describe my experience of testing. The specifications on the website of referral ...

The test of a small air conditioner with solar in practiceI must stress that try to cool an area is a very energy-intensive process, so should (must) do everything possible to facilitate the air conditioner does the job ... So:

We care first for shading the area we want to cool (trees, awnings, etc.).

If there are windows which gets sunlight, the scare with a suitable curtain.

Place the outdoor unit in a cool spot with shade.

Careful not exist losses from cracks, open doors, etc.

Avoid using appliances that emit heat into the conditioned space!Once I realized that we do not have any of these problems the caravan would become the experiment, I proceeded to install the small portable air conditioner.

The installationThe installation of small portable air conditioner with photovoltaic was more than simple: The small outdoor unit has two removable flat "hooks" from which you can hang the outdoor unit from a window of the caravan. There are screw holes for permanent mounting, we also have the ability to simply touch it somewhere without a permanent fix ...

small air conditionerConnected to the indoor unit via a flat tire. Is this level that you can close the window after installing the air conditioner (leaving a very small opening a few millimeters that can easily be covered with a special film to windows or other junk instrument we have available - ie tape). Very handy ...The indoor unit and is placed in various ways such as our best serve, bearing in mind that the level of rubber with the vents has a length of about a half meter.

air conditioning air condition caravan for caravan, boat, small spacesFrom the above and from the small shape and weight of the two units (internal and external) is obvious the effort made to ensure that the air is indeed portable and moved / positioned with ease. The operation of the air conditionerThe photovoltaic system was already installed was enough to support the testing of the air conditioner. If there were, the requirements of the air conditioner to operate three hours are as follows (cost about 1,200 euros):

Solar panel 230Wp about

200A battery deep discharge

Least 800W Inverter with pure sine

Charge regulator 10A/24VI put the socket, press power ON and wait for the result (I admit with some suspicion) ... In less than five minutes but my surprise was evident! The room with two beds had become so cool that you felt the need to choose a lower speed fan in the air conditioner (but I isolate this area from the rest of the caravan closing the sliding door and thereby reducing the volume of air needed to cool in half) . There were two stairs adjusting air speed and temperature selection four stairs cooling. I left the second staircase temperature and fan speed and opened the sliding door to see the result in the entire caravan length 5.50 meters. The temperature after about 15 minutes dropped significantly, so you can feel comfortable inside when the outside temperature must have been around 34 degrees Celsius (unfortunately I forgot to take with me ... thermometer, so accurate measurements will be added here in the next weekend)!

ConclusionMy own view is to avoid if we conditioners and apply natural methods to cool the house. But I understand that this is not always possible, and there may be health reasons mandating the installation of an air conditioner, even for a time of need ...The above solution conditioning is not generally the most economical, but it is the most economical solution conditioning using photovoltaics. In practice, does what it promises, ie cools very well a caravan 5-6 meters. The noise is not large, about works like a fan.If you would recommend? Undoubtedly yes ... if you absolutely must put conditioner! The installation was easy, gets the job done with the above, the cost is reasonable and is the only way for a solar air conditioning at a reasonable cost.

Folk Medicine

treating diseases with herbsIllnesses and pain forcing people living in the village, away from scientific medicine, resorting Therapeutae in nature, which Great organization and has amazing results for many diseases show. Certainly the modern pharmaceutical science resorting to natural sanatorium of herbs and other plants to prepare from these various drugs.
But man of the village, herbs general uses almost identical or after a treatment, completely rough and far from laboratories or chemical effects. Naturally, for any kind of illness or pain using a different herb or plant. Also each type of plant used accordingly either blossom or leaves, the peel of the fruit etc. These parts of the plant produced some ointment or juice or decoction or poultice or powder etc.
Most known herbs used to treat various diseases are:
For coughs: oats, mallow, amaranth, the dragon, heather, thyme, poppy, lettuce and pine.
For anemia: rosemary, spinach, nettle and bramble.
For chickenpox: dill and fennel.
For diarrhea: the neromolocha, Germany, the strawberry, celery, the Tsapournia.
For influenza: rosemary, the lemon and lettuce.
For asthma: the dragon, oregano, clover.
For Bronchial: eucalyptus, onion, lettuce, thyme, asparagus.
For constipation: cucumber, basil, tomatoes, cantaloupe.
For burns: cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, "fire the sheet."
For stomach ulcers: mallow, the spurge, the root of oak that are Zervos (Sunless) part.
For dizziness: rosemary and basil.
For mumps: ivy, the pikrangouria.
For the monk: onion, cabbage, flomos.
For pertussis: rosemary, ivy, thyme.
For chilblains: onion, potato, celery.
For rheumatism: artichoke, mint, willow.
For the kidneys: wildness and Pusan (whiskers) of corn.
We left to mention last one herb which was used variously and grows near the village in the position called 'went'. This is the rue or rue (ryti the varyosmos as is the official name). From grass and seeds are used to make red dye. Was used as a drug for seizure for the treatment of epileptic et al. But as a spell-using rue, so it is known or phrase: "to exorcise the rue."
Magic - SpellsThe magic, as technical change in natural law, is unknown in the village, even as a concept. As energy but for satisfaction or variation of the desire some people is widespread and manifests itself in various ways. The used magical means mingled with elements of the Christian religion, as demonstrated by some spells (incantations), or may even be purely Christian greetings lined mystic energies and symbols. People who make their magical rituals and exorcisms on behalf of others, not always aimed at payment. However, do not reveal how their energy or words or wishes they say, for fear of losing their own "magical" ability. Spells and magical rituals are usually the "exorcism" of evil spirits, for the treatment of human and animal diseases, to prevent magical energy coming from those who wish evil one, to attract the interest of some person for some k . LP
Apart from evil spirits, which cause people turmoil, sickness and disease, there is a belief that some muscle aches or pains of the body due to the "pixies" or the "evil eye" (evil eye).
As a deterrent evil eye are garlic, talisman of earth taken from the altar of the church, head viper killed on May Day, the amulet of blue beads and others. Because not even the fruit trees and fields affected by the spell to protect them, hang in them the skeleton of the head of an animal, usually the donkey. The evil eye comes from various people, but mostly by the "smichtofrydides" and monitored by general malaise and headaches. When someone exhibits these symptoms, or resort to "special" village for xematiasma. So they throw in a glass of water three drops of oil from the lamp of the house, says the following words: "Holy Mary, dispersed the eye and all the evils in the woods, the boulders and f 'wild mountains'. These words says it three times and in between studying His name matiasmenou. If the drops of oil diluted, is evidence that the "patient" is still matiasmenos, if not, he has nothing. For "xematiasma" toddler get flowers from the bier and with the frankincense incense, or go to church and hold down the Gospel while the priest reads the Gospel. Also resort to or "special" for xematiasma and he says these words, after crucify the child three times: "Blonde cow gave birth and got blonde calf. He took his mother went to the middle of the bazaar. The saw pazariotes and the evil eye. Togleipse momma and passed. Face, jaw, cheeks "(three times).

Apart from the above spells for xematiasma other spells which are said to cure certain diseases are:
a) For "varvaritses" (hard pimples on the fingers). While the priest says during operation "exairetos the Virgin immaculate ... the person seeking treatment says: To dry the varvaritses me. If this resailed three times then the varvaritses disappear.

b) For the "pasta" (stimulus or pimple in the eye). Sufferer goes to someone who is born to the "alichtisi" to bully ie gafgizontas it as the dog. He makes the sign of the cross with his hand on the patient's eye and says: "'Am, um, get Starakis, orzo, because" I am the first child of my mother and I will eat. "These words are repeated three times.

For the treatment of mumps, the patient moving his hand up - down slightly rubbing the part that hurts, saying: The deaf the landlord took the ax and went deaf to deaf the Logos to bring the deaf wood. Neither root nor HDPE top. " For treating Lugo just go dark at a crossroads (crossroads) with three alatospyra. They take the crossroads three gravel and turning to a road crossed the Lugo with a alatospyro and a pebble. So do to each of the other two paths and each time they say: "'Stars Tonight, tonight Lugo, Taxus nor stars nor Lugo." If you do not go to crossroads, they say: "The Lugo, the pens and t 'grindstone go to town. The Lugo, the pens turned and t 'grindstone lost. . . '. These words are repeated three times the same words to say and treat 'anemopyromatos "rousoumpelis or whatever they call it.

DIY - Solar air heater - Heating without power!

Thermal application space heating - Solar Heater
With the construction that will show here, can heat a room in winter (the days can be cold but sunny weather, even partial). The modules are not suitable for heating a space, for the conversion of solar energy into electricity and then again converted into electrical energy by thermal means huge losses, making the solution of photovoltaic inefficient. Here instead, we will convert solar energy directly into heat, warming the air.

The solar air heater (solar heater) is very easy to build and very cheap! Me cost me about 30 Euros in materials and two hours of my time! This you see here is very small and because of the small surface area is only suitable for a small space such as a small store a small caravan etc. (If you put two such collectors). Fabricating but in a larger format (and / or putting more) can heat and proportionately larger areas.
For example, here is the tray is 50cm wide and 100cm in height, that has a surface of 0.5 mA room eg 10 sq.m. takes 1/5 of the surface of a collector, i.e. 2 m solar collectors as the heater it.So for an area of 10 sq.m. they will make a solar air heater (collector) with a surface area four times larger than 0.5 m, ie a manifold with dimensions of 2 meters height for 1 meter wide (2 m).For an area of 20 sq.m. they will make two panels with 2 meters high by 1 meter in width each.
The construction
As shown in the figure above, we construct (or order ready a carpenter) a frame in the dimensions we want depending on the area they want to heat (see above). On the front put a mosque (we stick around with transparent silicone). The distance from the timber back to the glass front, should be about 7 cm for every 1 meter of the collector. There will be heated air out of the sun.The ratio of height to width of the collector should be about 2:1.
On the back there should be two openings, one down and one up. Underneath it enters the wind and cold will be coming from the top opening warm (hot air is lighter than cold, so it rises and will be leaving the top open).
In the next photo shows the exposures. I did at the beginning of the cycle to experiment but it is preferable to be rectangular as shown below:
The height of the slit inlet and outlet flow is approximately 6 cm for each meter of the collector. If for example the height of the collector is 2 meters, then each slit should have a height of about 12 cm and a width nearly the width of the collector.
As we said, the hot air will be coming out with pressure alone, without the use of fans, from the top outlet as shown in the representation on paper towels that I made in the next picture. The collector placed outside the wall of the space we want to heat. Open a hole in the wall which communicates with the lower opening of the collector and insulates gaps to prevent leaks.Or joined with a tube thus creating an air duct. From here it enters the cold air of the room.Do the same for the top opening of the collector and the wall of our space. From there it returns the warm air again in most indoor-heated.
Designed to prevent the reverse process at night and cools the space, hang a thin plastic sheet on the top exit. Because it is light, the pressure of the hot air in the outlet and thus pushes the path is not interrupted air. In the evening there is no air movement, the plastic visor disappears and closes the exit.
Computers (with several complex calculations that are not present) that this construction achieves almost 1.000 BTU per square meter of collector. I.e. with a collector surface 2 m earn each day (from 10:00 to 16:00) over 10.000 BTU heating in free! 4 m wins over 20.000 BTU. Not bad ... And then the benefit is even greater if we consider that when you leave the sun and light a heater, stove or electric heater, they should just keep an already warm cozy space and not to heat from 13 degrees at 19 (this implies a significant fuel economy or power). The solar heater can not reach an area of 13 to 14 degrees Celsius to 19 to 20 ° C in two hours.
The first tests
The first test came in January, a day not exactly sunny but with enough sun. The outdoor temperature was a little over 15 degrees Celsius (the digital thermometer behind the collector shows 18.4 because there the air is affected by the temperature of the collector itself).
The collector left for 30 minutes in the sun. With a digital thermometer (and this DIY job) measured the temperature at the inlet cold air and it was 18.4.Immediately after measured the temperature at the exit of hot air was 50.4 degrees Celsius! The solar air heater raised the temperature of the air in his whole by 32 degrees within a few seconds!
So works and very efficiently. His performance certainly went up a bit, after I hung and stretched a black metal screen (like the one we put in windows for insects) within the frame and in half the distance from the back to the window. Because it is black and metallic, heated very quickly and transmits its heat to the air passing over and beside her as he climbs up to find the exit onto the frame.
Applications
The applications are numerous: a small scale can heat a small space such as a camper, a small workshop or garage etc.On a large scale, we can imagine the entire south side of a house "dressed" with such panels will give 100.000 BTU each day indoors, warming day and saving fuel in the afternoon (since when you get into the heater, the space will is already at room temperature).Because construction costs are low, the damping becomes very quickly. In terms of aesthetics, if done right job, the result is beautiful. What appears is a black glass surface, where else would seem the wall behind the glass panels. There are ways to store heat provided by the solar collector. But add in complexity and will not linger here. Illustrative only: the convection of hot air can be directed onto a large diameter column containing water. The water will warm up much, but it slowly releases that heat till late in the evening, after sunset.Below you will find other articles that interest you, divided into three sections ...

DIY : Organic cleaning products

The modern way of life-force us the use of various home cleaners, which are sometimes harmful and dangerous for the environment and for us. Speech time rush and convenience sacrificing our health. The easy and safe cleaning, supposedly offering chemical detergents, has serious consequences. The chemical detergents poison water and kill fish, birds and animals. Even for the user's health can be dangerous to use the chemical detergents. The strong odors, for example, liquid dishwashing, floor cleaners and air fresheners may contain chemicals which cause cancer and liver disease. Childhood allergies have proliferated over the last 30 years. This is largely due to increased use of household chemicals.Striving for a more natural home cleaning our health benefits of our family, in particular of children, their growth is damaged by contact with chemicals. Save more space and money, simplify our lives and helping the environment. Rivers and groundwater, and wildlife benefit from the reduction of household chemical waste. Among the household detergents, are more toxic oven cleaners, drain and toilet bowl. H caustic soda is dangerous for the environment and the user.

Universal cleaner for home:Dissolve and mix half a cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda in two quarts of warm water. The solution is maintained for a long time and cleans windows, mirrors, the calcium deposits in faucets and ceramic tiles. The vinegar used to remove fat and mold. Grease can still use and lemon juice. We use baking soda as a scouring powder, and strengthen it if necessary mixing with vinegar.

Glass cleaner:Dissolve and mix two tablespoons of vinegar per liter of hot water and clean the windows using our old newspapers. Even with the same solution can clean ceramic tile and plastic surfaces such as the inside of the refrigerator.

For dishwashing:Green or white olive oil soap. Grated olive soap, dissolved in hot water, used for general cleaning, washing dishes, mopping floors and on course for laundry. For stubborn stains, add a little vinegar.

For the oven: Prepare a mixture viscous cream soda and a little water and brush the surfaces of the oven to be cleaned. With a sprayer, spray with water when the soda starts to dry out to keep the liquid. Repeat several times because the soda must be fluid to action. Finally wipe with a cloth and remove the soda and debris. Beware your oven must be closed and cold.

For these salts from the kettle of water:Boil in half a cup of vinegar in two cups of water. Rinse thoroughly with warm water while kettle is still warm.

To clean the toilet bowl and drains: Half a cup of baking soda and half a cup of vinegar. The chemical reaction that follows breaks down fat into soap and glycerin and cleans drains. After 15 minutes, pour in boiling water to rinse off residues. CAUTION: Do not pour large quantities of hot water because the plastic pipes can melt. Also, do not use this method if you have previously shed commercial preparations obstruction, because in combination with vinegar created dangerous anathymiaseis.I baking soda mixed with water dissolves dirt and oils in textiles and clothing. Lemon juice mixed with salt is ideal to clean rust and grease. The tea tree oil is dissolved in water is very good antibacterial for cleaning the mold in the bathroom.

For cleaning carpets: The proper cleaning of carpets during their use is vacuuming. Before storing them in the summer, turn the rug upside down and press it before you clean as you will feet and the normal side of the pile. In this way will drop much of the dust that has entered into the base of the carpet and thus cleaned better. For cleaning of your carpet using 3 parts of warm water and one part of white vinegar. With a soft brush and some of the solution (not to much moisture left in your carpet), brush your carpet only towards the pile. Dry the carpet in shady and cool place and not directly in the sun to not alter the colors.Similarly you can use to freshen the colors of your carpets periodically with a single swipe with a cloth.

Instead of the toxic air fresheners: Use herbs or essential oils because they are herbal products disinfect and clean scent every corner of the house and some of them such as mint or lavender and verbena are the best repellents.

Best for cleaning are:Grapefruit, lemon, lavender, orange, cypress, verbena and rosemary. Most suitable for disinfection are:Grapefruit, the tea tree, thyme, lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, bergamot, verbena. Brightening lemon, grapefruit, polish cedar, sandalwood, cypress and dazzling white sage.

Best deodorants and perfumed are:All citrus, rose, geranium, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, and marjoram. You can use either infusions (boil the herbs, drain and use the water) or by adding 4-5 drops of essential oils in a liter of water.

To annihilate cockroaches:Place baking soda with a little sugar in a small saucer and put in cupboards, behind the refrigerator or frequented.Another method to drive away ants and biting insects is to take essential insect lavender or plain vinegar've frequented.

Electricity production from Biomass Boilers Steam boilers, superheated water, diathermic Oil

If you are considering replacing the existing industrial steam boiler (currently running on LPG or diesel) with a biomass boiler, and then consider the production of electricity of high pressure steam or excess biomass. It offers you great financial benefit.Again if your company already uses biomass boiler, you can use any excess biomass for electricity generationwith great financial benefit. The American production technology green electricity  from the company CARRIER (18 MS Microsteam turbine) and the GE (General Electric Clean Cycle 125) can help you increase the revenue your industry.Specifically, using the differential pressure steam boiler biomass steam turbine of Carrier (18MS Microsteam turbine), rather than consume energy in the pressure-reducing valve, can produce up to 275 KW of green renewable electricity. The electricity generated is sold to network administrator at great financial benefit up to 500,000 euros / year. Also excess or remaining biomass is burned in boiler biomass can supply heat machine of GE (General Electric Clean Cycle 125 KW), which works with the cycle ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle), producing electrical energy for a correspondingly large economic benefit, up to 230,000 euros / year per machine.

Make dishwashing detergent in no time!

Could you wash your dishes without giving a lot of money? Yeah! And if the phrase sounds like a detergent advertisement, only this detergent you build yourself.

According to the blog "Our food in our medicine", with this formulation your dishes come out clean and shiny!
You will need:

• Two cups of bicarbonate of soda (baking) - 1,2 euro ( washing soda does too)
• Two cups borax - 1 euro (from drugstore/ pharmacy)
• Four tablespoons sour (citric acid) - 1 euro

It will cost 3.2 euros for 32 washes ... which means 0.10 euro per wash!

To make this mixture you have to shuffle your materials in a bowl and store in a jar - for each wash (without pre-wash) use a tablespoon of your mixture in the case of the tablet or liquid . For dazzling, use vinegar!
